Hong Kong Air Cargo launches chartered freighter service to Sydney
Hong Kong Air Cargo has launched a chartered freighter service between Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia.
The first flight departed Hong Kong International Airport on Thursday December 8 at 11.30pm and arrived in Sydney on the morning of December 9.
The Airbus A330-200F will operate between Hong Kong and Sydney three times a week.
In 2021, Hong Kong Air Cargo received approval to operate flights to nine new destinations, Sydney being one of them.
The new service will allow customers the opportunity to streamline cargo consignments originating from both the airline’s current route network, and Hong Kong to Australia
William Chan, director of Government and Public Affairs, Hong Kong Air Cargo, said: “We will continue to expand our route network and improve our service to serve our customers.
“As the global market recovers from the pandemic, it is important for us to focus on what we do well and respond to our customer’s needs whilst ensuring that we strengthen Hong Kong’s position as the international cargo hub.”
In May this year, the cargo airline took steps to expand its Asia and Europe flight network.
It also launched a scheduled service to Tokyo in July.
