10% bed tax takes effect in Helena, Ala.

Owners of short-term rental properties, hotels and motels in Helena, Ala., must now collect a 10% lodging tax on all stays less than 30 days. Mayor Brian Puckett says putting the tax in place now prepares the city to benefit from new revenue streams as short-term accommodations in the area increase going forward.
