2021 Travvy Awards Honors the Top Destinations
The winners of the 2021 Travvy Awards are here! After a year of destinations adhering to stringent new protocols and gradually reopening to travelers, these top spots showed why they are among travelers’ favorite destinations.
Best City Destination – Domestic
Miami Beach took home the Gold this year while Las Vegas was a close second place. New York City came in third as the best city destination for domestic travelers.
Best Cruise Destination – Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific
Australia is considered the best cruise destination in the region. While The Islands of Tahiti took home silver, and New Zealand won bronze.
Best Cruise Destination – Central & South America
In Central and South America, Panama won best cruise destination. Belize followed with silver, and Chile won bronse.
Best Cruise Destination – International
For all international destinations, Greece won gold as the best cruise destination. Mexico took home silver, and Italy won bronze.
Best Culinary Destination – Caribbean
When it comes to culinary destinations in the Caribbean, Jamaica wins gold. Puerto Rico won silver, and Barbados won bronze.
Best Culinary Destination – Mexico
In Mexico, Yucatan and Puerto Vallarta won gold for the best culinary destination. Riviera Nayarit and Los Cabos both won silver, and Cancun was awarded bronze.
Best Culinary Destination – North America
In North America, New Orleans took home the gold. Las Vegas came in a close second, and San Francisco won bronze.

For the overall best destination in the region, Australia won gold. While The Islands of Tahiti and New Zealand tied for silver.
Best Destination – Domestic
In the United States, Greater Miami & Miami Beach won gold in the Best Destination – Domestic category. Alaska placed second, and Las Vegas won bronze.
Best Destination – Mediterranean
Greece took home the gold for the Best Destination – Mediterranean. Malta won silver. And Italy and Croatia tied for bronze.
Best Destination – Caribbean
Jamaica and Aruba tied for first in the Caribbean. Puerto Rico came in second, and Barbados won bronze.
Best Destination – Mexico
Riviera Nayarit was awarded the best destination in Mexico. Riviera Maya and Puerto Vallarta tied for silver. And San Miguel de Allende won bronze.
Best Expedition/Adventure Destination – Domestic
For the Best Expedition/Adventure Destination – Domestic, Alaska took home the gold. Hawaii won silver, and California came in third.
Best Expedition/Adventure Destination – International
Internationally, Thailand and Chile tied for the Best Expedition/Adventure Destination. And Greece took home silver.
Best Honeymoon Destination – Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific
When it comes to the Best Honeymoon Destination in Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific, The Islands of Tahiti took the top spot. Fiji and Australia tied for silver. While New Zealand and the Cook Islands tied for bronze.
Best Honeymoon Destination – Caribbean
In the Caribbean, Saint Lucia won gold for the Best Honeymoon Destination in the region. Jamaica won silver. Aruba and Barbados tied for bronze.
Best Honeymoon Destination – Mexico
In Mexico, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos are tied as the Best Honeymoon Destinations. Riviera Nayarit and Cancun tied for silver and Guanajuato won bronze.

In the U.S. and Canada, Miami Beach and Hawaii tied for gold as the Best Honeymoon Destinations. While The Palm Beaches and Florida Keys & Key West tied for silver. Napa Valley won bronze.
Best Luxury Destination – Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific
When it comes to luxury destinations, The Islands of Tahiti won gold for the region. New Zealand took home silver, and Australia won bronze.

In the Caribbean, Turks & Caicos and Saint Lucia tied for the Best Luxury Destination. Aruba won silver, and Barbados took home bronze.

The Best Luxury Destination – Internationally was awarded to Greece. Thailand and Mauritius tied for silver, and Panama won bronze.

When it comes to Tourism Boards, Tourism Australia (TA) won gold for best in the region. Followed by Tourism New Zealand with silver, and Tahiti Tourisme winning bronze.

In the Caribbean, Jamaica won gold for Best Tourism Board. Discover Puerto Rico followed with winning silver, and Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. won bronze.

In Europe, Malta and Ireland tied for gold. Croatia won silver, and Bavaria was awarded bronze.

In Mexico, Puerto Vallarta won gold for Best Tourism Board. Riviera Nayarit Visitors & Convention Bureau tied with Los Cabos for silver, and Yucatan brought home the bronze.

In North America, Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority won gold for the Best Tourism Board. New Orleans & Company followed with winning silver, and Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority took home the bronze.
Best Wedding Destination – Caribbean
For the Best Wedding Destination in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia was awarded gold. Jamaica and Aruba tied for silver. While Puerto Rico and Barbados both won bronze.
Best Wedding Destination – Mexico
In Mexico, the Best Wedding Destination was awarded to Riviera Nayarit. Los Cabos won silver, and San Miguel de Allende took home the bronze.
