2022 Travvy Awards Recognizes the Best Cruise Companies
The Best Cruise Lines and Cruise Ships
Top cruise lines from all over the world were honored at the 2022 Travvy Awards. From the line with the best entertainment to the best cruise line based on destination to river cruises to the overall best ship. Here’s the roundup of all the winners voted on by travel agents.
Best Cruise Entertainment
Royal Caribbean International brought home the gold for Best Cruise Entertainment. Norwegian Cruise Line took Silver, and Virgin Voyages was awarded Bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Alaska
The Best Cruise Line for sailing in Alaska was awarded to Princess Cruises. Holland America Line received silver and Norwegian Cruise Line took home bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Asia
Royal Caribbean International was awarded gold for the Best Cruise Line in Asia. Princess Cruises took home silver and Regent Seven Seas Cruises was awarded bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific
The Best Cruise Line in Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific was awarded to Princess Cruises. While Windstar Cruises came in second and Paul Gauguin Cruises third.
Best Cruise Line – Caribbean
The award for Best Cruise Line in the Caribbean went to Royal Caribbean International. Celebrity Cruises was awarded silver in this category, and Carnival Cruise Line took home the bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Central & South America
Celebrity Cruises was recognized as being the Best Cruise Line in Central & South America. Norwegian Cruise Line was awarded silver and Holland America Line was given bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Europe
Celebrity Cruises was also awarded the gold for Best Cruise Line in Europe. Royal Caribbean International was recognized with silver and MSC Cruises was honored with bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Expedition/Adventure
The Best Cruise Line for Expedition/Adventure travel was given to Celebrity Cruises. Followed by a tie for silver between Lindblad Expeditions and Atlas Ocean Voyages. Silversea Cruises was awarded bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Family
Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line were both recognized as the Best Cruise Lines for Family travel. Royal Caribbean International was given silver and Norwegian Cruise Line was awarded bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Hawaii
The Best Cruise Line in Hawaii was awarded to Norwegian Cruise Line. While Princess Cruises was recognized in second place and Royal Caribbean International came in third.
Best Cruise Line – Large (Over 1,000 Cabins)
Royal Caribbean International was given the gold for Best Cruise Line – Large (Over 1,000 Cabins). Celebrity Cruises was awarded with second place and Norwegian Cruise Line was given bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Small (Under 500 Cabins)
Best Cruise Line – Small (Under 500 Cabins) was awarded to Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Azamara took home silver and Silversea Cruises was given bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Contemporary
Royal Caribbean International was recognized as the Best Contemporary Cruise Line. Norwegian Cruise Line was given silver, and Carnival Cruise Line took home bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Premium
For the Best Cruise Line – Premium category Celebrity Cruises was honored with gold. Oceania Cruises was recognized in second place, and Azamara was awarded bronze.
Best Cruise Line – Luxury
Regent Seven Seas Cruises came in first place for the Best Cruise Line – Luxury category. Seabourn was awarded silver, and Silversea Cruises took home bronze.
Best Cruise Line – US Waterways
Travel Agents voted and agreed that American Queen Voyages is the Best Cruise Line for US Waterways. Followed closely by American Cruise Lines which was awarded silver and Viking came in third.
Best Cruise Ship – Expedition/Adventure
Lindblad Expeditions’ National Geographic Resolution was awarded Best Cruise Ship for Expedition/Adventure. Followed by Viking’s Octantis and Atlas Ocean Voyages’ World Navigator both winning silver, and Silversea Cruises’ Silver Origin coming in third.
Best Cruise Ship – Large (Over 1,000 Cabins)
For Best Cruise Ship – Large (Over 1,000 Cabins) Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas took home the gold. Celebrity Cruises’ Apex was given silver, and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Encore took home bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Mid-Size (500 – 1,000 Cabins)
Holland America Line MS Zaandam was given gold for Best Cruise Ship – Mid-Size (500 – 1,000 Cabins). Silver place was awarded to Oceania Cruises’ Riviera, and Princess Cruises’ Coral Princess was given bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Small (Under 500 Cabins)
For Best Cruise Ship – Small (Under 500 Cabins), gold was presented to Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor. Scenic Eclipse tied with Azamara Onward for silver, and Windstar Cruises’ Star Pride won bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Contemporary
Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas also won gold for Best Cruise Ship – Contemporary. This category also had a tie for silver with Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Encore both coming in second. MSC Cruises’ MSC Seashore was awarded bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Premium
Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Beyond was presented with gold for the Best Cruise Ship – Premium. Princess Cruises’ Discovery Princess was honored with silver, and Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady took home bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Luxury
Gold for the Best Cruise Ship – Luxury category went to Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor. Silversea Cruises’ Silver Dawn came in second place, and Seabourn’s Ovation won bronze.
Best Cruise Ship – Overall
Royal Caribbean International’s Wonder of the Seas was honored with gold for Best Cruise Ship – Overall. Silver was awarded to Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Beyond, and Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras took home bronze.
Best River Cruise Line – Africa/Egypt
The Best River Cruise Line in Africa/Egypt was AmaWaterways. Viking came in second, and Avalon Waterways placed third.
Best River Cruise Line – Europe
Viking was awarded gold for Best River Cruise Line in Europe. AmaWaterways placed second, and Avalon Waterways came in third.
Best River Cruise Line – US Waterways
American Queen Voyages was honored with gold for Best River Cruise Line – US Waterways. American Cruise Lines took home silver, and Viking was recognized with bronze.

The Best River Cruise Line – Overall was awarded to AmaWaterways. Viking followed with silver, and Avalon Waterways came in third.
Best River Cruise Ship – New (Sailing Jan 2021 or After)
For Best River Cruise Ship – New (Sailing Jan 2021 or After), Viking’s Skaga took home gold. AmaWaterway’s AMALUCIA was awarded silver, and bronze was given to Avalon Waterways’ Avalon View.
Best River Cruise Ship – Overall
AmaMagna was honored as the Best River Cruise Ship – Overall. Viking’s Skaga followed in second place, and Avalon Waterways’ Avalon View was awarded bronze.
