$30M project start boosts uneven Atlanta hotel comeback

The start of construction of a $30 million dual-branded hotel around Atlanta’s Gateway Center highlights a plodding recovery for hospitality in the metro area, punctuated by some project delays and a downsized convention trade. Occupancy reportedly has risen to 60%, compared to 70% in 2019, while convention volume for 2022 is projected to hit 50% to 70% of 2019’s level.
