Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int’l) has announced it will position two aircraft at a new base in Newcastle, GB for Summer 2022, operating 63 weekly seasonal departures on 19 routes, including 12 new ones to Europe from March next year.

These would include:

  • 3x weekly departures to Ibiza and Menorca (Spain);
  • 2x weekly departures to Zadar (Croatia), Paphos (Cyprus), Chania (Greece), Milan Bergamo (Italy), Riga (Latvia), Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife Sur, and Las Palmas (Spain), and Kraków (Poland).

“We have seen massive demand for fights from Newcastle this summer as UK customers flock to the beaches of Spain and Portugal, and now customers will have a much wider choice next summer with the addition of these 12 new routes,” commented chief executive Eddie Wilson in a statement. He said the new base would create 60 new direct jobs and 400 indirect ones.

Ryanair’s Winter 2021 schedule from Newcastle will see 22 weekly flights on seven routes, including three flights on the new route to Krakow. The airline currently uses B737-800s on its services from Newcastle to Alicante, Malaga, and Palma de Mallorca (Spain); Wroclaw and Gdansk (Poland); Faro (Portugal), and Dublin Int’l (Ireland), the ch-aviation schedules module shows.
