Hawaii lodging takes 1-2 punch from Ige plea, COVID rise

Hotel bookings and prices in Hawaii have plummeted in the face of Gov. David Ige’s Aug. 23 call for a halt to nonessential travel, along with a coronavirus resurgence. “Some hotels have been forced to offer discounts in order to keep operating and all of this taking place during our normal slow season,” says Mufi Hannemann, president and CEO of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association.
