Solomon Airlines resumes domestic flights
Solomons – Solomon Airlines (IE, Honiara) has confirmed it is restarting commercial domestic services between Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, and the nine provinces of the South Pacific archipelago.
This follows approval from relevant government oversight committees, the airline said in a statement on March 14, 2022. Flight bookings will open immediately but must be made at least 24-hours before departure to ensure adequate time for Ministry of Health approval processing. Proof of double vaccination and Rapid Antigen Test results would be required at check-in.
Meanwhile, the airline will also operate a second international repatriation flight on March 30 between Honiara and Nadi, Fiji following Solomon Islands government approval and subject to Fiji regulatory approval, it announced. The first repatriation flight to Fiji was operated on March 9, 2022.
In February, the airline announced the continued suspension of its domestic commercial flights to March 27, 2022, while it was working with the Solomon Islands government and COVID-19 Oversight Committee on a resumption of regular flights.
The flight ban at the time was due to a travel ban from Honiara following an escalation of COVID-19 infections in the capital.
