Multiple Injuries Reported as Cathay Pacific Aborts Takeoff
An aborted takeoff on a Cathay Pacific Airways flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles resulted in 11 individuals being hospitalized with injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday morning and involved a technical issue that prompted the pilot to abort the flight just seconds before takeoff, as reported by Reuters.com.
Cathay Pacific confirmed the occurrence of a technical problem but did not disclose specific details regarding the issue. The flight, carrying 293 passengers and 17 crew members, returned to the gate after the aborted takeoff and utilized precautionary slides, resulting in injuries to 11 people.
According to Cathay Pacific, nine of the injured individuals have already been released from the nearby hospital, while two passengers remain hospitalized. The airline stated that their staff will continue to provide support to the hospitalized passengers and their families.
Local authorities, citing the police, reported that one of the tires overheated and burst prior to the plane’s intended takeoff. Passengers affected by the incident were later accommodated on a subsequent flight.
