Air Canada Opens New Maple Leaf Lounge with Outdoor Terrace at San Francisco Airport

Air Canada has opened a new Maple Leaf Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), the airline’s 28th lounge worldwide and its third in the U.S. The lounge, located in Terminal 2, features an outdoor terrace with runway views, a first for the Star Alliance member.

The new lounge spans 761 square metres (8,168 square feet) and can accommodate up to 165 guests, including 135 indoors and 30 outdoors. The lounge is open to Air Canada’s business class passengers, Aeroplan Super Elite, 50K and 75K members, as well as Star Alliance Gold members and eligible United Club members.

The lounge offers a range of facilities and services for passengers, such as:

  • Spacious indoor seating area with comfortable chairs, sofas, and tables
  • Outdoor terrace with lounge chairs, fireplaces, and a mural of the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Self-serve bar with a selection of cocktails, wines, beers, and soft drinks
  • Buffet area with hot and cold dishes inspired by local cuisine, such as sliders and fish stew
  • Work zone with three private workstations equipped with desks and glass doors
  • Two shower rooms with Molton Brown toiletries
  • VIP room for up to 10 guests
  • Free Wi-Fi, power outlets, USB ports, newspapers, magazines, and TV screens

The lounge also showcases various artworks by local artists, such as paintings, sculptures, and photographs.

The benefits of the new lounge
The new lounge is part of Air Canada’s ongoing investment in enhancing its ground experience for its customers. The airline says the lounge reflects its commitment to offering premium products and services that meet the needs and preferences of its travellers.

Mark Nasr, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President Marketing and Digital, says the new lounge is designed to provide a “fresh look and feel” that is distinctly San Francisco. He adds that the lounge also offers a “hands-free entry” system that uses digital identification to facilitate a quicker entry process.

The new lounge is also expected to attract more passengers to Air Canada’s flights from SFO. The airline currently operates up to 28 flights per day from SFO to seven Canadian destinations: Calgary , Edmonton , Montreal , Toronto , Vancouver , Victoria , and Winnipeg .

Network developments
Air Canada is also expanding its network across the U.S. and beyond. The airline recently announced new routes from Montreal to Raleigh-Durham , from Toronto to Austin , from Vancouver to Santa Ana , and from Calgary to Seattle . The airline also plans to resume flights from Toronto to Dubai in October 2023.

Air Canada currently operates a fleet of more than 200 aircraft, including Boeing 787 Dreamliners , Airbus A330s , Airbus A220s , Boeing 737 MAXs , and Airbus A320-family aircraft. The airline has also ordered 45 Airbus A321XLRs , which will enable it to launch new long-haul routes from its hubs.

Air Canada has 17 Maple Leaf Lounges across Canada , as well as three in the U.S. (Los Angeles , Newark , and San Francisco), three in Europe (Frankfurt , London Heathrow , and Paris ), two in Asia (Hong Kong and Tokyo Narita ), one in South America (Santiago ), one in Africa (Casablanca ), and one in Oceania (Brisbane ).
