Buzz, an inflight and travel amenities company, has acquired ‘Single Use Ain’t Sexy’, a sustainable personal care brand, for an undisclosed sum. Buzz intends for the acquisition to expand its global product portfolio and meet growing demand for environmentally friendly amenities, with a focus on refillable and sustainable options. The deal will add products such as dissolvable ‘just-add-water’ soap tablets and reusable glass bottles to the Buzz portfolio.

Under Buzz, Single Use Ain’t Sexy will shift its focus to the wholesale travel market and cease operating as a direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand. As part of the acquisition, Single Use Ain’t Sexy founder & CEO Josh Howard will join the Buzz team in an international role to help scale the full sustainable portfolio across an extensive distribution network of global travel partners.

“I am motivated by impact and this partnership with Buzz gives us the platform to affect much larger change together. The sheer scale of their global operations means we will save more single-use plastic bottles from landfill with just one hotel partnership than we could achieve alone,” stated John Howard.

Buzz believes that, by the end of 2023, it will be on track to supply large format and refillable amenities – designed to replace mini single-use plastic bottles – plus other sustainably designed products, to more than 50,000 hotel rooms globally for brands including Hilton, Marriott, MGM Resorts, SLS, Atlantis and Belmond. Buzz is also working to reduce single-use plastics in the airline sector for both onboard products and in airline lounges.

The acquisition builds on Buzz’s sustainable initiatives, which have included introducing its proprietary ecoThread blankets for airlines such as Emirates, which have saved over 100 million plastic drinking bottles from being sent to landfill.
