Air Canada Cargo, the air freight division of Air Canada, has unveiled plans to provide year-round widebody capacity on critical European routes by extending some of its seasonal passenger routes into the winter months. This strategic decision aims to enhance options and flexibility for customers requiring efficient goods transportation between Canada and Europe.

Key routes that will remain operational during the winter season include Montreal to Rome, Toronto to Copenhagen, and Toronto to Madrid. Additionally, Air Canada Cargo will introduce service to Lyon coinciding with the resumption of Air Canada’s passenger route in mid-October. These routes will complement the existing freighter service in collaboration with Cargojet.

Matthieu Casey, Managing Director of Commercial at Air Canada Cargo, emphasized the synergy between Air Canada’s passenger network’s belly capacity and their freighter service. These new routes, combined with increased passenger schedule frequencies, will significantly strengthen transatlantic offerings. He also highlighted Air Canada Cargo’s expansive international network, connecting over 450 cities across six continents, known for its reliability and efficiency in air freight transport.

As Canada’s largest air cargo provider in terms of cargo capacity, Air Canada Cargo handles diverse cargo types, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, live animals, and e-commerce. It offers specialized services such as AC Pharmacair, AC Horses, and AC Animals. The division has received numerous prestigious accolades for its exceptional air cargo services, including the Air Cargo Excellence Award and the IATA CEIV Pharma certification. This expansion underscores its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers in the air cargo industry.
