Discovery Jets, based at Fort Lauderdale Executive, has ventured into ad-hoc cargo operations with the addition of its first Beech 1900D freighter. This strategic move marks a significant expansion for the airline, traditionally known for its expertise in business jet charters.

The newly acquired aircraft, registered as N305DJ (msn UE-276), is a 1997 model Beech 1900D previously operated by Canada’s Northern Thunderbird Air (NTA) in Prince George. After undergoing maintenance at Miami Executive, the freighter was ferried to its new base at Fort Lauderdale Executive on December 12, 2023, as per Flightradar24 ADS-B data.

Discovery Jets revealed that the turboprop freighter will ultimately be stationed at Fort Lauderdale International and will soon be available for ad-hoc cargo charters. This expansion into cargo operations broadens the airline’s service offerings, allowing it to cater to a diverse range of client needs.

Up until this point, Discovery Jets’ in-house fleet consisted exclusively of business jets, including two Cessna 750s and one Hawker 125. The addition of the Beech 1900D freighter signifies the airline’s commitment to diversifying its fleet and embracing new opportunities in the cargo sector.

Industry observers are closely watching how Discovery Jets will leverage its expanded capabilities to navigate the evolving aviation landscape and meet the demands of both business and cargo clientele. The introduction of the Beech 1900D freighter positions Discovery Jets to play a dynamic role in the air charter and cargo markets, showcasing its adaptability and commitment to delivering comprehensive aviation solutions.
