2024 is set to be a banner year for tourism in Japan, especially for North American travelers, thanks to Air Canada’s expanded service offerings. Following a hiatus due to the pandemic, Japan has reopened its doors to tourists, experiencing a surge in interest. This upward trend is expected to continue and strengthen in 2024.

Air Canada is capitalizing on this growing demand by increasing its flight capacity to Japan. During peak travel times, the airline is offering a remarkable 1,100 seats daily in each direction between Canada and Japan. This expansion includes up to two daily flights from Toronto to Tokyo, regular departures from Montreal and Vancouver, and flights connecting Vancouver with Osaka.

Mark Galardo, the Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, emphasized the airline’s commitment to meeting the robust demand for Asia services. As part of their international diversification strategy, Air Canada plans to operate up to 57 weekly flights between Canada and Asia during the winter season, and up to 64 flights in the summer.

The 2024 spring season will see earlier and more frequent flights from Vancouver to Osaka, starting on May 1st with three weekly flights, which will increase to four from June 17th. Additionally, the larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be used on routes to Narita from Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, further enhancing passenger capacity.

Rocky Lo, Air Canada’s Senior Director for Asia Revenue Management & Sales, highlighted the airline’s efforts to enhance the travel experience. At a Tokyo event, he emphasized the introduction of more Japanese-inspired meal options on board, allowing passengers to start their culinary journey even before landing. He also mentioned a partnership with Bell, enabling Aeroplan members to enjoy free messaging services during flights.

A trip to Tokyo offers an unparalleled blend of energetic modernity and rich tradition. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city’s history by exploring its shrines and temples. Air Canada Vacations provides convenient packages that include flights, hotels, and excursions to Tokyo.

Osaka, Japan’s second-largest city, is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, culinary delights, and a mix of modern and historical attractions. Highlights include water bus tours to Osaka Castle, cherry blossom picnics in Nishinomaru Garden, and exploring the city’s famed street food scene. Travel packages to Osaka are available through Air
