Loganair, Scotland’s regional airline, has completed the sale of its last two Do328-100 aircraft to Deutsche Aircraft, the original manufacturer. These aircraft, which have been out of service since April 2019, are part of Loganair’s ongoing fleet modernization process.

The aircraft, D-CDAJ (msn 3089), was ferried to Oberpfaffenhofen on December 16, 2023. Meanwhile, the second aircraft, formerly registered as G-CCGS, has been transferred to the German register with an undisclosed marking and is currently stationed at Dundee airport.

This transaction was facilitated by Airstream International Group and includes one spare engine and various other spare parts.

Loganair began operating six Do328-100 aircraft in 2013 but phased them all out by 2019, replacing them with ATR – Avions de Transport Régional turboprops. Loganair’s current fleet comprises a mix of ATR42s, ATR72s, DHC-6s, Embraer E145s, Saab 340Bs, and BN-2s.

Christian Pürschel, a spokesperson for Deutsche Aircraft, explained to ch-aviation that acquiring pre-owned Do328 aircraft aligns with their business strategy to meet market and customer demands.

Deutsche Aircraft is actively working on the development of the Do328eco, an upgraded variant of the Do328. Pürschel emphasized the importance of transitioning to newer models, as the existing Do328 fleet is ageing and becoming increasingly scarce. The company is focusing its future on the new D328eco model.

This sale marks the end of an era for Loganair’s Do328 operations and reflects the broader trend in the aviation industry towards modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly aircraft. The introduction of the D328eco by Deutsche Aircraft promises to bring new advancements and capabilities to the regional aviation market.
