MGM Resorts Implements Resort Fee Hike Across Las Vegas Properties

Travelers to Las Vegas, take note: MGM Resorts has announced an increase in daily resort fees at its Las Vegas properties, a move that is sure to impact budget planning for many visitors. Resort fees, often a source of frustration for travelers due to charges for amenities like room phone calls, internet service, and fitness center access, are a common feature in many hotels and resorts. These fees are typically mandatory, regardless of whether guests use the included services.

The fee increase at MGM Resorts’ Las Vegas properties varies between $2 and $6, depending on the specific hotel. The new fees are structured as follows: Luxor and Excalibur now charge $37, The Signature, Park MGM, NoMad, and New York-New York have set their fees at $42. Meanwhile, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, and Delano are charging $45, and the more upscale Bellagio, Vdara, ARIA, and The Cosmopolitan have topped their resort fees at $50.

This increase means that even the most attractive room rates can be significantly impacted by these additional charges, often leading to a sense of sticker shock upon checkout. It’s a reminder that the final bill can often exceed initial expectations due to these mandatory fees.

Additionally, many casino-hotels in Las Vegas, including those under the MGM Resorts umbrella, have also implemented a daily parking fee, further adding to the overall cost of a stay.

This move by MGM Resorts reflects a broader trend in the hospitality industry where additional fees for amenities are becoming more prevalent. As the saying goes in Las Vegas, “the house always has an advantage,” and in this case, it seems the adage holds true for resort fees as well. Travelers planning a trip to Las Vegas are advised to factor in these increased fees while budgeting for their stay.
