ANA Set to Launch Domestic Boeing 787-10 Flights in Early March 2024
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is gearing up to introduce its first Boeing 787-10 aircraft configured for domestic operations in early March 2024, as announced by Kimihiro Nakahori, the Chief Financial Officer of ANA Holdings. The move comes after a slight delay attributed to Boeing’s late delivery of the aircraft, with ANA anticipating the arrival of its first two 787-10s in February, followed by an additional two in March.
The airline plans to deploy the first 787-10 on popular routes, including Tokyo Haneda to Fukuoka, enhancing its domestic service offerings. ANA is no stranger to the 787-10 model, already operating three of these aircraft on both domestic and regional Asian routes. With four more on the immediate horizon and another seven on order, ANA is significantly bolstering its fleet with this latest addition.
The forthcoming domestic-configured 787-10s are set to offer a spacious arrangement, accommodating 429 passengers across two cabin classes. This configuration is a departure from ANA and Air Japan’s existing 787-10s, which feature 294 seats in a three-cabin layout, and marks a strategic move to replace the airline’s remaining 777-200ERs. These older aircraft, seating 405 passengers in two classes, will be phased out in favor of the 787-10’s larger capacity and superior fuel efficiency.
ANA’s decision to update its domestic fleet with the Boeing 787-10 underscores the airline’s commitment to improving its operational efficiency and financial performance on key domestic routes. With the 787-10, ANA aims to offer passengers enhanced comfort and service while optimizing its route profitability in the competitive Japanese aviation market.
