Air France and Afrijet have entered into a pivotal commercial cooperation agreement, set to significantly enhance air traffic connectivity through Libreville airport, positioning it as a central hub in Central Africa. Scheduled for implementation by the end of March 2024, this partnership aims to fortify Gabon’s regional and international connections, promising an upgraded travel experience for passengers of both airlines.

Under this agreement, passengers will be able to book flights operated by both Air France and Afrijet on a single Air France ticket. This integration will facilitate access to new destinations within Gabon and the region, including cities like Port-Gentil, Franceville, Bata, and Sao Tomé, which were previously beyond Air France’s reach. Additionally, it will reinforce the airline’s presence in regions where it already operates.

Zoran Jelkic, General Manager of Long Courrier Air France – KLM, expressed the strategic importance of the agreement, stating, “This represents a significant regional agreement for Air France.” He highlighted the benefits for customers, including seamless luggage check-in from the point of departure to the final destination and smoother, faster transit experiences at Libreville airport.

Marc Gaffajoli, Managing Director of Afrijet Business Service, echoed the enthusiasm for the partnership, underscoring the shared commitment to developing interconnected air travel in Africa. “This long-awaited agreement with Air France will enable us to enhance a regional network that will soon cover the entire Gulf of Guinea,” said Gaffajoli. He emphasized the commitment to providing mutual customers with comprehensive services that meet international safety standards and accommodate their mobility needs across the continent and region.

This collaborative effort between Air France and Afrijet is a testament to the power of partnerships in expanding air travel networks, ensuring safety, and improving customer service, marking a significant step forward in the development of air connectivity within Africa.
