Berlin Brandenburg Airport Targets Long-Haul Expansion

Share

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), operational since 2020, is focusing on enhancing its long-haul connectivity as it continues to grow. With direct flights to over 180 destinations from 86 airline partners and 23 million passengers in 2023, BER is reaching 73% of its pre-pandemic traffic levels.

Berlin is a key global destination, recently recognized by TimeOut magazine as one of the world’s top cities. To capitalize on this, BER has introduced several new routes, including Eurowings’ seasonal flights to Rovaniemi, nonstop services to Yerevan and Tivat starting in July 2024, and new destinations launched last winter, such as Erbil, Tbilisi, and Tromsø.

For the summer 2024 schedule, Ryanair is expanding with six new destinations: Castellón, Kaunas, Birmingham, Trieste, Dubrovnik, and Reggio Calabria. EasyJet will also increase its offerings to over 50 destinations, adding new routes to Antalya, Izmir, Toulouse, Birmingham, and Salerno.

Additionally, Saudi Arabian LCC flynas will commence a three-times-weekly service from Jeddah on September 4.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport is also committed to sustainability, achieving Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation and aiming for carbon-neutral operations by 2045.
