Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), the largest airport in England’s Yorkshire region, is set to grow significantly with its Vision 2030 strategy. Serving over 4 million passengers annually to more than 80 destinations across Europe and Africa, LBA aims to boost passenger numbers to 7 million by 2030.

Backed by £200 million ($262 million) in private investment, the airport will expand its terminal by 38% and enhance its airfield with up to 10 new aircraft stands. Recent developments include new routes and increased services from major airlines:

  • SunExpress introduced flights to Antalya.
  • Ryanair launched new routes to Bucharest and Marrakesh in May 2024.
  • easyJet will begin a twice-weekly service to Paris CDG in October 2024 and a weekly seasonal route to Geneva in January 2025, with increased Belfast service to six times a week.
  • Jet2.com will add a ski route to Sofia, Bulgaria, starting February and a new weekly route to Jerez, Spain, for summer 2025.

LBA is also advancing its Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, focusing on decarbonizing transport links, investing in solar infrastructure, and expanding EV charging facilities. As a member of Routes 360, LBA has highlighted multiple route opportunities, including potential connections to:

  • Unserved Destinations: Lisbon (LIS), Athens (ATH), Southampton (SOU), Cork (ORK), Istanbul (IST), Jeddah (JED), Sharm El Sheikh (SSH), Vilnius (VNO).
  • Underserved Destinations: Bergen (BGO), Keflavik-Reykjavik (KEF), Barcelona (BCN).
