Etihad Airways is set to expand its route network, with CEO Antonoaldo Neves announcing a remarkable 35% increase in passenger numbers compared to last year. On October 14, 2024, Neves revealed that 13.6 million passengers have flown with Etihad in 2024, a significant rise from 10.1 million in 2023.

The airline reported strong performance during the summer holiday season, with 1.6 million passengers in September 2024, up from 1.2 million in September 2023. Neves noted, “Our passenger numbers in September saw significant growth compared to the same period last year, highlighting our continuing upward momentum.”

Etihad’s average passenger load factor reached 88% in September 2024, a 1% increase from the previous year. Year-to-date, the load factor stands at 87%, up from 86% during the same timeframe last year. “Despite expanding our capacity compared to 2023, we maintained our robust passenger load factor of 87% year-to-date, demonstrating the continued preference for Etihad among travelers,” Neves stated.

In addition to impressive passenger figures, Neves hinted at more new routes being announced soon. The airline’s route map has expanded to 76 destinations, up from 68 last year. In September 2024, Etihad confirmed two new routes to Prague and Warsaw, with further expansions on the horizon.

Neves emphasized that the route expansion is supported by the airline’s year-on-year fleet growth, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global aviation hub and a prime destination for international tourists.

With these positive developments, Etihad Airways is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory and offer travelers even more options for their journeys. The increase in passenger numbers and forthcoming route expansions underscore the airline’s commitment to connecting travelers to diverse destinations worldwide.
