Airbus has reported strong order and delivery numbers for October 2024, surpassing its performance in September. The manufacturer received 82 new aircraft orders in October, bringing the total number of orders for 2024 to 749 aircraft. This includes 549 single-aisle aircraft, 64 A330s, and 136 A350s, with the A320neo family continuing to lead as the preferred choice for airlines worldwide.

In terms of deliveries, Airbus exceeded expectations with 62 aircraft delivered to 37 customers in October. This represents an increase from the 50 aircraft delivered in September 2024. These deliveries bring the total number of Airbus aircraft in service worldwide to 13,936 as of October 2024, further solidifying the manufacturer’s global presence in the aviation industry.

The vast majority of these aircraft are single-aisle models, with 11,170 units currently in operation. In the widebody category, there are 1,469 A330s and 622 A350s, along with smaller numbers of A300/A310s, A340s, and A380s. The continued demand for Airbus’s narrowbody models, particularly the A320 family, reflects the growing need for air travel as airlines strive to meet increasing passenger volumes.

Looking ahead, Airbus is on track to meet its delivery target of 770 new aircraft in 2024, with 559 already delivered by the end of October. To reach its goal, the company must deliver an additional 221 aircraft in the remaining months of the year. The continued strong performance in both orders and deliveries indicates that Airbus is well-positioned to meet the aviation industry’s growing demand.

The surge in aircraft orders and deliveries is in line with the overall trend in the aviation sector, as air travel demand remains at unprecedented levels. With five billion passengers expected to fly in 2024, Airbus forecasts that over the next 20 years, the industry will need more than 42,000 new aircraft to replace aging fleets and accommodate future growth. This includes the replacement of 18,460 older aircraft, underscoring the need for new, more efficient models.

As Airbus continues to expand its portfolio and meet global demand, the company’s success in 2024 highlights the importance of innovation and fleet renewal in the ever-evolving aviation landscape.
