Maine Aviation Retires Challenger 604 from Fleet

Maine Aviation (MAT), based at Portland International Jetport, has retired its sole Challenger 604 from its Part 135-certified fleet, according to research from ch-aviation. The aircraft, registered as N988CV (msn 5549), was officially removed from the operator’s certification in October 2024 and is no longer listed as a US FAA Part 135-certified aircraft.
The 22.2-year-old Bombardier Business Aircraft had a diverse operational history, initially registered in the United States before being re-registered in Canada in 2011. It operated in Canada for seven years before joining Maine Aviation’s fleet in June 2018. The Challenger 604 was based in South Florida and configured to accommodate up to 10 passengers during its service with the company.
With the retirement of the Challenger 604, Maine Aviation’s fleet now consists of eight aircraft. This includes one BAe-125-1000A, two BAe-125-1000Bs, one Challenger 800 (CRJ100), one Challenger 850, two Falcon 900Bs, and one Falcon 900.
Specializing in private jet charters, aircraft management, acquisitions, sales, and maintenance, Maine Aviation also offers fixed-base operations (FBO) services at Portland International Jetport, continuing to serve the region with a diverse range of aviation services.
