Levu Air Cargo Receives AOC, Sets Sights on DHL Partnership

Levu Air Cargo (LVU), a Brazilian cargo airline start-up, has officially received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from Brazil’s civil aviation authority, Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), on November 7, 2024. The certification allows Levu to operate non-scheduled domestic cargo flights under RBAC 121 regulations, with its first aircraft, the A321-200(PCF) PS-LVU (msn 775), now ready for service.

As part of its growth strategy, Levu Air Cargo is set to collaborate with DHL Worldwide Express. In May 2024, the two companies announced a partnership involving an investment of BRL 480 million (USD 83 million) from DHL and BRL 530 million (USD 91.7 million) from Levu. This collaboration will see the lease of four aircraft — two A321-200(PCF)s and two A330-300(P2F)s — offering a combined monthly capacity of 10,000 tons of cargo. DHL will receive priority for space on these flights, while Levu will market any remaining cargo capacity.

PS-LVU, Levu’s first aircraft, completed its latest flight on November 12, 2024, flying from São Paulo Viracopos to Recife, as tracked by ADS-B data. The 26.85-year-old aircraft is managed by Cross Ocean Partners and marks the beginning of Levu’s operational journey. The airline has also secured the registration PR-LVU for an A330-300 (EI-HDN), which is currently stored at Châteauroux Déols Marcel Dassault for conversion, although the registration for the remaining aircraft has not yet been reserved.

Levu Air Cargo’s management team includes Lucas Menero da Silva as the accountable executive and André Cordeiro de Mello Pessoa as the director of operations. The airline has yet to announce the exact timeline for its full-scale charter operations but is expected to soon begin offering expanded cargo services.
