easyJet Launches 26 New Routes, Including Sub-Saharan
easyJet is set to significantly expand its network for summer 2025, announcing the launch of 26 new routes. This expansion marks easyJet’s first-ever sub-Saharan service in its nearly three-decade history, highlighting the low-cost airline’s commitment to offering more diverse travel options.
Introducing Sub-Saharan Service
Among the 26 new destinations announced on November 19, 2024, is a pioneering service to the island of Sal in Cape Verde, situated off the coast of Senegal. The inaugural easyJet flights from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Sal are scheduled to commence on March 31, 2025, operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the summer season. This route provides passengers with access to a vibrant destination, enhancing easyJet’s portfolio with a unique international offering.
Expanding European Connections
Out of the 26 new routes, 21 will originate from various UK airports, significantly enhancing easyJet’s presence across Europe. Notably, easyJet will launch its first-ever service to Rimini, Italy, from Gatwick, catering to both leisure and business travelers seeking convenient access to this popular coastal city.
London-Luton Airport (LTN) will see an expansion with new services to Almeria in Spain and Funchal in Madeira. These routes will begin on June 1, 2025, with flights operating on Wednesdays and Sundays, offering travelers more flexibility in planning their summer vacations.
New Routes from Manchester and Beyond
Manchester Airport (MAN) will also benefit from easyJet’s expansion, with five new routes launching in June 2025. These include flights to Izmir, Kalamata, Larnaca, Madrid, and Rome, providing Manchester-based passengers with a broader range of destinations to choose from.
Additionally, easyJet’s newest UK base at Birmingham Airport (BHX) will introduce new services to Gran Canaria and Malta, further strengthening the airline’s network in Southern Europe. Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) will add new Spanish routes to Malaga and Palma, while Glasgow Airport (GLA) will launch flights to Antalya in Turkey and Reus in Spain. Edinburgh Airport (EDI) will offer routes to Enfidha in Tunisia, Marrakech in Morocco, and Olbia on the Italian island of Sardinia. Belfast International Airport (BFS) will also serve Reus with a twice-weekly service.
Enhancing easyJet’s European Network
In addition to the UK-based expansions, easyJet is launching non-UK routes to Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) with flights to Strasbourg and Palermo in Sicily, Basel to Rimini, Malaga to Marrakech, and Alicante to Athens. These new routes will enhance easyJet’s European short-haul network, now offering more than 1,000 routes to over 160 airports across 37 countries.
Commitment to Growth and Customer Choice
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the new routes: “We’re proud to be releasing such an incredible range of new routes and package holidays today, providing more choice for customers to visit more of the places they love across Europe and to experience some incredible new destinations. This includes a milestone route for easyJet to beautiful Cape Verde, our first ever sub-Saharan service.”
Strategic Investment in the UK Market
easyJet’s continued growth and investment in the UK market underscore the airline’s commitment to expanding its connectivity and enhancing customer experiences. The airline has operated more flights than ever before this year, demonstrating its strong presence and reliability in the competitive low-cost aviation sector.
