Windstar Cruises has marked a significant milestone in the construction of its newest vessel, Star Seeker, as the 224-guest ship has officially floated out of dry dock at the WestSEA Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. After completing the exterior work, the focus now shifts to finishing the ship’s luxurious interiors, which will feature 112 suites, five dining venues, a full-service spa, a fitness facility, and more.

The ship is expected to join the Windstar fleet in December 2025. Following its completion, Star Seeker will embark on its maiden journey from Málaga, Spain, to Miami, Florida, where it will be officially christened in January 2026. The vessel will then offer a variety of Caribbean voyages before heading to Alaska and Japan, expanding Windstar Cruises’ destination offerings.

John Gunner, vice president of expansion projects for Windstar Cruises, shared his excitement about the progress, stating, “Seeing a ship come together and be at the point where she leaves dry dock for the sea is a memorable milestone in the life of a new build project.”

Star Seeker will offer an unparalleled cruising experience, with its thoughtfully designed suites and premium amenities, catering to guests looking for a blend of adventure and luxury. Following the launch of Star Seeker, Windstar will introduce another new ship, Star Explorer, in December 2026, continuing the expansion of its fleet and further enhancing its ability to offer exceptional travel experiences worldwide.
