Cathay Pacific to Fly Direct to Munich, Brussels
Cathay Pacific is set to expand its European network by launching direct flights to Munich, Germany, for the first time, and resuming flights to Brussels, Belgium, in the summer of 2025. This strategic move will provide travelers with non-stop connections between Hong Kong and two major European cities, enhancing connectivity and offering more travel options.
Starting June 16, 2025, Cathay Pacific will commence its inaugural passenger flights from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Munich Airport (MUC). The new service will operate four times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This marks the first time the airline is offering direct flights to Munich, a key business and leisure destination in Germany.
In addition to the new Munich route, Cathay Pacific will resume its direct flights to Brussels Airport (BRU) starting August 3, 2025. The Brussels service will also operate four times a week, restoring a vital connection between Hong Kong and Belgium’s capital city.
Both the Munich and Brussels routes will be served by the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. The A350-900 features a three-class configuration, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy Class cabins to cater to diverse passenger needs.
Commitment to the European Market
Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion:
“Cathay Pacific has been flying non-stop to Europe for over four decades and we remain very committed to this important market. In addition to launching these two routes, we are delighted to be adding more flights on our other European routes next summer, providing even greater choice and convenience for our customers traveling between Hong Kong and the continent.”
Expanded European Flight Schedule
In the summer of 2025, Cathay Pacific plans to increase its flights to Europe to 93 return trips each week, up from the current 78. The expanded schedule includes:
- Five daily flights to London Heathrow (LHR)
- Daily flights to Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), Manchester (MAN), Milan (MXP), Paris (CDG), and Zurich (ZRH)
- Four weekly flights to Madrid (MAD) and Barcelona (BCN)
- Four weekly flights to Munich (MUC) and Brussels (BRU)
Additionally, Cathay Pacific will continue to operate seven freighter flights per week to and from Europe, supporting global trade and cargo transportation.
Seamless Connections Across Asia-Pacific
Travelers from Europe to Hong Kong can benefit from seamless connections to numerous destinations across the Asia-Pacific region via Cathay Pacific’s main hub. This includes 19 locations in Mainland China served by Cathay Pacific and its sister airline, HK Express.
By the end of 2025, Cathay Pacific’s network is projected to reach 100 destinations worldwide, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to rebuilding and expanding its global reach after the challenges faced during the pandemic.
Enhancing Global Connectivity
Passengers looking forward to exploring new destinations or reconnecting with loved ones can now plan their journeys with greater flexibility and convenience. The launch of the Munich route and the resumption of Brussels flights not only strengthen Cathay Pacific’s European network but also enhance cultural and economic ties between Hong Kong and these key European cities.
