Emirates Boosts Melbourne Service with New Direct Flights
Emirates is set to enhance its service to Melbourne by introducing a third daily non-stop flight from Dubai starting March 2025. This addition will be serviced by the airline’s newly retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, featuring a four-class configuration that includes the new premium economy cabin and updated business class seats. This move aims to provide passengers with more convenient schedules and enhanced connectivity through Dubai.
Currently, Emirates operates two daily non-stop flights from Dubai to Melbourne using Airbus A380s and a daily service via Singapore with a Boeing 777-300ER. With the new direct service, the Singapore to Melbourne leg will be discontinued, but Emirates will compensate by adding a fourth direct flight between Dubai and Singapore.
The new flight, EK404, will depart Dubai at 21:15 and arrive in Melbourne at 17:40 the next day. The return flight, EK405, will leave Melbourne at 23:55 and reach Dubai at 07:00 the following day. This schedule expansion is part of Emirates’ broader strategy to offer unmatched connectivity from Dubai to 27 European cities, including multiple daily flights to major hubs like London, Paris, and Frankfurt.
The refurbished Boeing 777 for this route includes eight first-class suites, 40 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 256 in economy. This deployment will significantly increase the weekly premium economy seating capacity on Melbourne and Sydney routes, aligning with Emirates’ focus on enhancing passenger experience across its primary Australian gateways.
In addition to the Melbourne expansion, Emirates recently reinstated a second daily flight to Perth and resumed direct services to Adelaide, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to serving Australian travelers comprehensively. The airline now offers 77 weekly services across five Australian cities—Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
This expansion is underpinned by Emirates’ nearly three-decade-long service to Australia, where it plays a significant economic role, employing hundreds of Australians and investing in local sponsorships across sports and arts. The enduring partnership and codeshare agreement with Qantas further enrich travel options for customers, offering access to an extensive network of over 120 destinations, enhancing connectivity across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
