Cessna SkyCourier Certified for Remote Operations in Canada
Textron Aviation’s twin-engine turboprop, the Cessna SkyCourier, has officially received type certification from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA). This significant approval marks a key milestone for the aircraft, which is designed to support diverse operational activities, particularly in some of North America’s most remote areas.
With its newly awarded certification, the SkyCourier is now poised to provide enhanced flexibility for a variety of missions across Canada. “The SkyCourier’s performance will be a game-changer for our customers across Canada,” said Lannie O’Bannion, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Flight Operations at Textron Aviation. “The aircraft’s maximum flexibility and low operating costs make it an excellent choice for a wide range of missions throughout the region.”
The Cessna SkyCourier is built for versatility, capable of handling both passenger and specialized missions. It is designed for single-pilot operation, offering the ability to quickly and easily change configurations to meet the needs of different missions. Its robust performance ensures it is well-suited for supporting operations in challenging and remote locations, further enhancing its appeal for regional operators.
One of the first SkyCourier aircraft in Canada, a freighter variant, is scheduled to be delivered to Air Bravo Corporation in 2024. Air Bravo, a company that provides passenger, cargo, and air ambulance services, will benefit from the aircraft’s operational flexibility and efficiency.
The SkyCourier’s certification opens up new opportunities for aviation operations across Canada, particularly in areas where specialized aircraft are needed to support a wide range of services. With its combination of reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability, the SkyCourier is set to become a key player in aviation throughout the region.
