The Broadmoor Unveils Life-Size Gingerbread Golf Cart

Gingerbread is a cherished holiday tradition, and The Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs takes it to the next level with its elaborate, life-sized gingerbread displays. This year, the resort’s pastry team has crafted a stunning golf cart made entirely of gingerbread and dark chocolate, a tribute to the resort’s renowned golfing legacy.

The design pays homage to The Broadmoor’s 18-hole golf course, designed by legendary architect Donald Ross, and highlights the resort’s upcoming role as the host of the 2025 U.S. Senior Open Golf Championship in June. The resort, which has been welcoming guests since 1918, is known for its luxurious accommodations and diverse wilderness experiences, including Cloud Camp and The Ranch at Emerald Valley.

Led by executive pastry chef Franck Labasse, a team of more than 42 bakers worked tirelessly to create the gingerbread golf cart and its surroundings, which feature penguins, elves with golf clubs, boulders, a river, and a bridge. Santa Claus is also featured behind the wheel of the cart.

To construct the display, the team used impressive quantities of ingredients, which are detailed on a golf-inspired “Front 9” scorecard:

  • Hole 1: 958 pounds of powdered sugar
  • Hole 2: 475 pounds of flour
  • Hole 3: 1,801 eggs
  • Hole 4: 19 pounds of holiday spices
  • Hole 5: 200 pounds of granulated sugar
  • Hole 6: 128 pounds of molasses
  • Hole 7: 6 pounds of salt
  • Hole 8: 164 pounds of dark chocolate

In previous years, The Broadmoor has created life-sized trains, chapels, and even canopy boats. The gingerbread golf cart will be on display in the resort’s main building mezzanine through the New Year, offering a festive, sweet experience for visitors.
