British Airways Launches New Loyalty Program in 2025
British Airways (BA) has announced a major revamp of its loyalty program, which will replace the existing British Airways Executive Club. The new program, named The British Airways Club, will introduce several exciting changes designed to offer customers new ways to earn points and reward their loyalty.
Set to launch on April 1, 2025, The British Airways Club will feature a new Tier Point system, moving away from the traditional methods of earning points within the Executive Club. Under the revamped program, members will earn Tier Points not only based on the cost of their flights but also for ancillary spending, such as purchasing seat selection and excess baggage. Additionally, members can earn points when booking British Airways Holidays packages, further expanding the ways they can accumulate rewards.
A notable change is the introduction of the ability for BA American Express Premium Plus Cardholders to earn up to 2,500 Tier Points by spending on their cards, with new milestone rewards expected to roll out later in 2025.
Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, commented, “The changes we have announced today underline our continued investment in our loyalty programme and in our customers. Based on our Members’ feedback, we’ve built on the changes we’ve already made—including how customers collect Avios and their membership year—in a way that we believe better rewards their loyalty and reflects their changing travel needs.”
In terms of status, members will need to earn 3,500 Tier Points to reach Bronze, 7,500 for Silver, and 20,000 for Gold. For the exclusive Gold Guest List, members will need to accumulate 65,000 Tier Points, with at least 52,000 earned through British Airways-marketed flights and qualifying add-ons. To retain the top status, members will need to earn 40,000 Tier Points, with at least 32,000 earned through British Airways-marketed flights, qualifying add-ons, and British Airways Holidays packages.
This updated structure offers frequent flyers more opportunities to earn points and reach higher status levels, enhancing the loyalty experience for those who regularly fly with British Airways.
