Emirates has reintroduced its iconic Airbus A380 to Copenhagen for the first time since 2020, launching a new daily service between Dubai and the Danish capital. The Airbus A380, registered A6-EOP, landed at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) on January 1, 2024, at just before 12:30 after a six-hour flight from Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The A380, known for being the world’s largest passenger aircraft, returned to Dubai later that day before making its next journey to Manchester Airport (MAN) in the UK on January 2, 2024. A second Emirates Airbus A380, registered A6-EOY, also flew to Copenhagen on the same day.

Emirates is currently the only international airline operating the Airbus A380 to Denmark. “We have been looking forward to welcoming the iconic Emirates double-decker aircraft back to Copenhagen,” said Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Copenhagen Airport. “It’s a fantastic way to start the new year, seeing the world’s largest passenger plane, with a total of 615 seats, return to Denmark after a hiatus of nearly five years.”

The return of the A380 service to Copenhagen provides passengers with direct access to Dubai and onward connections to some of the most popular holiday destinations worldwide, including Australia, Bali, Mauritius, and South Africa. “We are incredibly proud to finally bring back the Emirates A380 to Copenhagen – what a sight to see it gracing our runway again!” said Morten Balk, Emirates’ Country Manager in Denmark. “We look forward to once again offering our customers unparalleled travel experiences and the signature products and services our A380 is known for.”

The Airbus A380 service offers more than 43% additional seating capacity compared to the previous Boeing 777-300ER, providing greater flexibility and more travel options for passengers. Emirates’ daily flight from Copenhagen will depart at 14:45, arriving in Dubai at 00:10 local time, while the return flight, EK151, will leave Dubai at 08:30 and arrive in Copenhagen at 12:30 local time.

The Emirates A380 operating on this route will feature a two-class configuration with 58 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 557 spacious seats in Economy Class, ensuring a comfortable experience for all passengers. The airline’s decision to replace the Boeing 777-300ER with the A380 on this route reflects Emirates’ ongoing commitment to expanding its global network and offering customers premium travel options.

Emirates currently operates a fleet of 93 Airbus A380-800s, with 25 described as inactive, continuing to reinforce its leadership in large aircraft operations and providing enhanced connectivity across its extensive network.
