Max Air, a Nigerian airline based at Kano International Airport, has announced a temporary suspension of part of its flight operations due to scheduled aircraft maintenance. The airline, which serves both domestic and international routes, revealed that some flights will experience disruptions between January 4 and January 8, 2025.

In an official statement, Max Air clarified that the maintenance is necessary to ensure continued safety, reliability, and efficiency in its services. “We wish to inform you about temporary disruptions to our flight operations as we carry out scheduled maintenance on our aircraft,” the statement reads, adding that the affected routes may see adjustments or cancellations during the stated period.

The airline assured passengers that full flight operations would resume on January 9, 2025, with all schedules returning to normal timing.

Max Air operates a diverse fleet, including Boeing 737-300s, Boeing 737-400, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-200, and an Embraer ERJ-135BJ, according to the Planespotters.net registry. However, recent data from Ch-aviation.com shows that only two aircraft are currently in service: a Boeing 737-400 and an Embraer ERJ-135NJ, which is used for VIP operations. Several other aircraft, including three Boeing 737-300s, two Boeing 747-400s, and the Boeing 777-200, are in storage, while two Boeing 737-300s are undergoing repairs in Yola, Nigeria.

This maintenance comes on the heels of a recent incident involving a Max Air Boeing 737-300. On December 4, 2024, the aircraft suffered an engine fire after a bird strike during a domestic flight from Maiduguri (MIU) to Lagos (LOS). The crew successfully landed the aircraft without further incident, and no injuries were reported.

Max Air’s temporary suspension of operations highlights the airline’s commitment to safety and maintenance, ensuring passengers experience reliable services once operations fully resume.
