Nigeria Revokes AOCs of Eastwind, Omni-Blu Over Violations

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the air operator’s certificates (AOCs) of Eastwind Aviation (Lagos) and Omni-Blu Aviation (O7, Lagos) for violating civil aviation regulations.
According to the NCAA, both operators falsified, reproduced, or altered official documents, violating Part 1.2.1.5 of Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs). The authority cited Part 1.2.1.5(b), which mandates certificate revocation as a penalty for such infractions.
“This decision aligns with our commitment to sanitizing the aviation industry,” the NCAA stated, confirming that AOCs OBA/AOC/12-15/002 (Omni-Blu) and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 (Eastwind) are revoked.
This comes amid heightened regulatory oversight following the grounding of MaxAir (Nigeria) (VM) on January 31, 2025, after a Boeing 737-400 incident at Kano Airport.
Founded in 2021, Eastwind Aviation provides helicopter services for Nigeria’s oil, gas, and government sectors with S-76 and AW139 helicopters. One of its S-76s crashed in October 2024 during an offshore flight from Port Harcourt’s military base, resulting in fatalities.
Omni-Blu Aviation operates S-76Cs and Bell 412 EPs for offshore contracts and humanitarian flights, alongside a Hawker 850XP, Challenger 600, and King Air B200.
Eastwind expressed disappointment, affirming its commitment to safety and compliance while engaging with the NCAA to resolve the issue. The company insists there are no operational safety risks and aims for a swift reinstatement.
