Capital Jet Charter Retires Its Only Citation Sovereign Jet

Share

Capital Jet Charter has officially retired its only executive jet, a Citation Sovereign, marking a shift in its fleet strategy. The aircraft, registered as N111NB (msn 680-0076), was withdrawn from service under the company’s Part 135 certification, according to ch-aviation data.

The 18.6-year-old Citation Sovereign joined Capital Jet Charter’s fleet in 2022 but has been parked at Grand Junction since November 21, 2024. Its last recorded flight originated from Trenton, New Jersey, where it was previously based under the airline’s ‘CCJ’ code.

With this move, Capital Jet Charter no longer operates executive jets. Its Part 135 fleet is now limited to a single Piper PA-32R, shifting the company’s focus away from luxury jet services. The decision reflects evolving operational priorities within the private aviation sector, where rising costs and shifting demand influence fleet compositions.

The Citation Sovereign, known for its range and cabin comfort, has been a popular choice in business aviation. However, its retirement signals a potential restructuring or a pivot in Capital Jet Charter’s business model. While the company has yet to announce future fleet plans, the exit from executive jet operations could impact its market positioning.

As the private aviation landscape continues to evolve, Capital Jet Charter’s decision highlights the challenges and strategic shifts facing smaller charter operators. The retirement of the Citation Sovereign leaves industry observers watching for any future developments in the company’s operational direction.
