Smartify Raises £1.5M to Revolutionize Museum and Gallery Visitor Engagement

Smartify, a leading visitor engagement platform for cultural attractions, has secured a £1.5 million investment to enhance its services and expand its global footprint. The funding round was led by Metavallon VC, with participation from Pembroke VCT.
Established in 2015, Smartify aims to transform how museums and galleries connect with audiences through its innovative SaaS platform and mobile app. The company provides customized, branded applications for cultural venues, utilizing augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) to enrich visitor experiences. Additionally, Smartify assists partners in generating new revenue streams by integrating e-commerce solutions and offering premium products alongside standard ticketing options.
Currently, Smartify collaborates with over 700 institutions worldwide, including renowned sites like the Acropolis Museum in Athens and the Tower of London. The platform has experienced significant growth, with a 68% increase in app usage over the past year. This surge includes two million active users engaging in more than 14 million audio tours and exploring 1.7 million artifacts.
CEO of Smartify, Thanos Kokkiniotis, expressed enthusiasm about the recent investment, stating, “This funding follows a truly remarkable year for Smartify and is a significant vote of confidence in our work to make arts and culture more accessible and enjoyable. We’re delighted to have the support of Metavallon VC, Pembroke VCT, and Mountside Ventures as we expand our reach and transform the visitor experience at even more venues worldwide.”
Metavallon VC partner, George Karantonis, highlighted the company’s potential, noting, “Smartify already boasts an impressive clientele that includes some of the world’s leading museums. We are confident they will continue their international expansion. Our vision is to see Smartify become the app of choice for travelers to search, select, and consume cultural content.”
Andrew Wolfson, CEO of Pembroke Investment Managers LLP, added, “Smartify brings imaginative and thoughtful innovation to galleries, museums, and exhibitions that are steeped in history—the platform is simply a fantastic enhancement of a cultural experience.”
With this infusion of capital, Smartify is poised to further revolutionize the way cultural institutions engage with visitors, making art and history more accessible and interactive for audiences worldwide.
