SWISS Unveils ‘SWISS Wanderlust’ Livery for First Airbus A350

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has unveiled a unique new livery for its first Airbus A350 aircraft, named ‘SWISS Wanderlust.’ The airline revealed the design on March 6, 2025, describing it as a “playful, creative, and story-packed homage to Switzerland.” The livery combines iconic Swiss landmarks, motifs from traditional arts, and symbols from famous sports events, blending both modern and traditional elements.
The design, created by renowned Switzerland-based artist Frédéric Siegel, transforms SWISS’s first Airbus A350-900 into what the airline calls the world’s first-ever flying art gallery. Siegel, known for his distinctive illustrations and animations, has incorporated a range of Swiss symbols on the aircraft’s fuselage and engine nacelles. These include a marmot, a beloved emblem of the Swiss Alps, an apple pierced by Wilhelm Tell’s arrow, the personification of Switzerland—Helvetia—and a treasure chest symbolizing a nationwide online treasure hunt organized by SWISS.
Heike Birlenbach, SWISS’s Chief Commercial Officer, commented, “This special livery is our flying declaration of our love for Switzerland. It’s a confirmation of how close we feel to our home country, and it’s an invitation to everyone to discover and explore it in all its uniqueness in a playful and creative way.”
The livery’s design also incorporates augmented reality (AR), allowing passengers to explore the illustrations on the aircraft in an interactive way. Through this feature, users can discover hidden details, solve puzzles, and even win a round-trip Business Class flight.
The first aircraft featuring the ‘SWISS Wanderlust’ livery is expected to enter service by late summer 2025. Over the coming years, SWISS will receive a total of 10 A350 twin-engine jets. This new livery marks the beginning of the airline’s efforts to creatively showcase Swiss culture through aviation.
