Premier Air Charter Targets 10+ Seat Market with GIV Jets

Premier Air Charter, based in San Diego, is expanding into the large business jet market with the addition of two Gulfstream GIVs. Following the company’s public acquisition by Altair International Corp., CEO Ross Gourdie confirmed the airline has already applied for a “10 or more” FAA certificate, enabling it to operate aircraft with 10 or more passengers. The two GIVs, currently flying with a Michigan-based partner, are expected to join Premier’s fleet once the certification is granted in the third quarter of 2025.
The two GIVs, N236CA and N450EJ, will complement Premier’s growing fleet, which currently includes smaller jets like Citation Jet 3s and Citation X aircraft, offering flexibility for both short and long-haul charters. Gourdie highlighted the advantages of younger aircraft with fast Wi-Fi capabilities, which have been a “game changer” for the company’s charter offerings.
Premier Air Charter’s fleet strategy also includes plans to modernize its larger jets, with potential replacements for its Challenger 601-3Rs, such as Challenger 604s or 605s. The company remains focused on jets and has no interest in returning to turboprops.
While based in Southern California, Premier Air Charter services clients across the U.S., with most operations still concentrated in the busy Southern California market. The company is also exploring options to acquire more aircraft in 2025, including Citation Jets and Gulfstreams, to continue growing its fleet.
