Baoneng Jet in China Retires Sole Aircraft, G550

Baoneng Jet, based in Guangzhou, has phased out its only aircraft, a Gulfstream G550, after several years of service. The aircraft, registered B-3275 (msn 5564), was configured for up to 14 passengers. Its last flight under Baoneng Jet’s code was on July 30, 2024, operating between Lijiang and Shenzhen, where it was based. After five months of inactivity, the G550 flew to Singapore Seletar on December 21, 2024, and completed a round trip to Tianjin on December 25 and 26.
The G550 has since been reregistered in the Cayman Islands as VP-CYC and will be added to Donghai Jet’s fleet. This will be Donghai Jet’s first Gulfstream aircraft, joining its existing fleet of two Chinese-registered Challenger 605s. Donghai Jet is a subsidiary of Donghai Airlines, a privately owned carrier backed by Hong Kong investor Wong Cho Bau, also involved with Greater Bay Airlines.
With the G550’s departure, Baoneng Jet no longer operates any aircraft. The company had secured its air operator’s certificate (AOC) in November 2017, and it began operations with the G550 in April 2018. Baoneng Jet is part of the Baoneng Group, a conglomerate with interests in real estate, finance, and automotive manufacturing. The group has faced financial difficulties since 2020 and, as of October 2024, is involved in numerous legal disputes, including a lease conflict with NORINCO, a state-owned defense corporation.
