Airlines Set to Transform Global Connectivity in April 2025

A wave of new route launches and capacity expansions is set to reshape global air travel this April 2025, as carriers from around the world unveil plans to boost connectivity and tap into growing markets. Barcelona-based Level is leading the charge on its long-haul routes between Barcelona and the Americas, offering more than 652,000 seats during peak summer months. The International Airlines Group subsidiary will operate daily flights to New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires while South American routes see a 24% increase in seat capacity compared to summer 2024, with Buenos Aires served daily and Santiago de Chile up to four times weekly. In the United States, Miami and San Francisco will each receive four weekly flights from June to September, marking a significant expansion that follows the addition of a seventh aircraft to Level’s fleet and its first summer operating under its own air operator certificate.
Virgin Atlantic is making a strong comeback to Canada after more than a decade by launching a new daily nonstop service between London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson International Airport. Operated by a Boeing 787-9, the route is expected to carry over 165,000 passengers annually and will also include a generous cargo capacity of 20 metric tons per flight. Meanwhile, Jet2.com is adding Samos to its Greek network for summer 2026, with services from Manchester and London Stansted providing up to two weekly flights from each base, making Samos the 15th Greek airport on its roster.
British Airways has also refreshed its offerings by launching daily nonstop flights between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and resuming its service to Tbilisi for the first time since 2013, thereby increasing customer choice across Europe and Asia. UK regional carrier Eastern Airways has introduced a new domestic route connecting London Southend Airport with Cornwall Newquay Airport, with daily departures beginning April 3.
TAP Air Portugal is resuming flights to Porto Alegre, Brazil, after an 11-month hiatus, operating three flights a week on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft to reconnect the region with Europe. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is adding a nonstop route to Almaty, Kazakhstan from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, operating three times weekly from June 3. Jetstar has launched its inaugural flight between Christchurch and Cairns, one of four new trans-Tasman services in 2025, while Spanish carrier Volotea has announced a new route from Madrid to Ancona, offering over 2,100 seats across approximately 12 flights.
Transavia is introducing nonstop flights from Amsterdam to Agadir, Morocco, with plans to further expand its Moroccan network by launching direct flights to Rabat in November 2025. Wizz Air has expanded its Italian network with a new route connecting Pisa and Warsaw, operating three times weekly. Saudia has launched seasonal services between Riyadh and Athens and from Jeddah to Vienna, while Vietjet has initiated four new nonstop routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, with daily service from Hanoi to Beijing starting April 27. Additionally, JetSMART has introduced a new domestic route in Colombia between Cali and Bogotá, ITA Airways has launched a new Milan Linate-Munich service, and Condor has opened a base at Vienna Airport with new daily flights to Frankfurt and summer services to Mediterranean destinations. Further, KLM now connects Amsterdam with Exeter, LOT Polish Airlines has unveiled a new Krakow to Paris Orly route, Saudia is launching a new route from Jeddah to Bali, Air Canada is introducing a Montreal to Edinburgh service, Avianca has begun nonstop service from Bogotá to Tampa, and Qantas has initiated a new route connecting Darwin and Singapore.
