Amadeus and Google Team Up to Improve Airline Dynamic Pricing

Amadeus and Google have partnered to help airlines improve dynamic pricing accuracy on Google Flight Search. The collaboration addresses challenges with continuous pricing models, particularly with fare accuracy and inventory availability on search platforms.

Finnair, an early adopter of continuous pricing through Amadeus’ retail solutions, experienced discrepancies between its dynamic fares and the cached results on Google Flights. Asif Khan, head of travel partnerships at Google, explained that Google’s cache-based system couldn’t keep pace with the frequent fare updates under continuous pricing.

Speaking at the Amadeus Altitude 25 airline event, Khan and Jenni Suomela, Finnair’s vice president of global sales and channel management, detailed how Amadeus’ MetaConnect technology helped bridge the gap. MetaConnect connects Google Flight Search directly to Finnair’s dynamic offer management, ensuring real-time pricing accuracy without sacrificing performance.

Suomela highlighted the importance of keeping Finnair’s offers visible on Google Flights while maintaining dynamic pricing benefits. Accurate fare displays and brand visibility remain critical in acquisition channels like Google, she said.

Elena Avila, Amadeus’ executive vice president of travel distribution, said the collaboration gives airlines more control over pricing strategies and enhances user experience on Google Flights. The partnership also supports lead generation and provides detailed reporting for airlines to measure performance.

Looking ahead, Khan suggested that travel search will evolve with more visual search integration, moving beyond traditional origin-destination formats. Accurate and accessible data, he said, will be key to shaping the future of travel search.
