Qantas and Hawaiian Airlines Launch Points Partnership

Qantas has announced that members of its frequent flyer program will be able to redeem Qantas Points for reward seats on Hawaiian Airlines flights starting June 5, 2025. The agreement marks a key step in a broader partnership between the two national carriers, first revealed in January 2025, and expands access to travel across Hawaii, North America, and select international destinations.

Through this tie-up, Qantas Frequent Flyer members gain access to Hawaiian Airlines’ network, which includes flights to all four major Hawaiian Islands, 15 cities across the United States, and 10 international destinations. Following Hawaiian Airlines’ 2024 merger with Alaska Airlines, travelers can now connect from Honolulu to cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City with one-stop itineraries. Hawaiian also operates nonstop flights to Sydney and Auckland.

Andrew Glance, CEO of Qantas Loyalty, emphasized the value of the partnership for members, noting that Hawaii remains one of the most popular destinations among frequent flyers. He added that the alliance complements the newly launched Qantas route from Melbourne to Honolulu, which began in May 2025, by offering members more flexibility, additional reward seat availability, and the option to include Hawaii as a stopover on transpacific trips.

The partnership also includes a bilateral codeshare agreement, allowing Qantas Frequent Flyer members to earn Qantas Points and Status Credits on Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights when booked under a QF flight number. This applies to routes within Hawaii and to the mainland United States.

The collaboration comes as Qantas continues to expand its global frequent flyer partner network. According to the airline, the number of reward seats made available through flagship partners grew by nearly one-third in 2024, and redemptions with partner airlines have doubled over the last five years.

Hawaiian Airlines, soon to join the oneworld alliance in 2026, views the partnership as a chance to introduce more Australian travelers to its signature onboard hospitality. Alex Judson, Managing Director of Partnerships and International at Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines, noted the long-standing presence of the airline in Australia and welcomed the opportunity to extend its offerings to Qantas customers.

Hawaiian Airlines operates nonstop flights between Sydney and Honolulu using its fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft. Each aircraft is configured with 278 seats, including 18 Premium Cabin lie-flat seats, 68 Extra Comfort seats, and 192 Main Cabin seats. The airline currently flies 24 of these aircraft with an average fleet age of 12 years.

As loyalty programs become increasingly central to airline partnerships, the Qantas-Hawaiian alliance is expected to deliver greater flexibility and rewards for travelers on both sides of the Pacific.
