Air India and Latvian carrier airBaltic have signed a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) to enhance travel connectivity between India and the Baltic nations of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. The agreement was formalized during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi and announced by airBaltic on June 3, 2025.

The new partnership enables both airlines to sell connecting tickets that combine flights from each carrier, offering passengers seamless travel options between major cities in the Baltics and destinations across India. The agreement is designed to increase network reach and provide greater flexibility for travelers looking for efficient and connected itineraries between the two regions.

Pauls Cālītis, Interim CEO and COO of airBaltic, welcomed the cooperation, highlighting the growing demand for travel between the Baltics and India. “We are excited about this development and look forward to our partnership, especially as we observe a steady increase in passenger traffic between the Baltics and India,” he said.

Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, also emphasized the strategic importance of the deal. “Our new partnership with airBaltic strengthens our extended worldwide network and provides easy access to our guests to and from the Baltics, an emerging tourism region for Indians, consisting of nations with which India’s trade ties continue to grow,” Aggarwal noted.

The announcement comes as Air India continues to build a strong international network through new airline partnerships. On June 2, 2025, the carrier entered into codeshare agreements with Icelandair and Air Mauritius, covering over 30 additional routes across Europe, Africa, and the Indian Ocean region.

The airBaltic partnership adds another layer of connectivity for travelers, opening new tourism and business opportunities and supporting India’s growing aviation ties with northern and eastern Europe.
