Norwegian Group, the parent company of low-cost carrier Norwegian Airlines and regional operator Widerøe, reported strong operational growth for May 2025, transporting a combined 2,527,517 passengers across both carriers.

Norwegian Airlines carried 2,178,172 passengers, with a load factor of 83.6%, up 1.5 percentage points year-on-year. The airline’s capacity rose 3% to 3.56 billion available seat kilometers (ASK), while revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) reached 2.98 billion, up 5% compared to May 2024. Norwegian operated an average fleet of 86 aircraft during the month.

Widerøe carried 349,345 passengers in May, with capacity increasing 8% year-on-year to 193 million ASKs. However, the regional airline saw a slight decline in load factor to 68.6%, down 0.8 percentage points. The airline flew 48 DHC-8 turboprops and three Embraer E2 jets on short-haul routes.

Operational reliability remained high across the Group. Norwegian achieved a punctuality rate of 88.4% and regularity of 99.7%, while Widerøe reported 92.9% punctuality and 97.8% regularity.

CEO Geir Karlsen noted positive trends across the board, citing improved load factors, strong passenger numbers, and high operational performance. With the summer travel season kicking off in June, Norwegian expects a significant capacity increase and continued strong booking momentum, with 300,000 more seats sold year-on-year.

For summer 2025, Norwegian will operate 88 aircraft, including 64 Boeing 737-800s and 24 737 MAX 8s, serving 109 destinations across 36 countries on 164 routes.
