Vietnam Airlines to Launch Direct Flights to Denmark in December

Vietnam Airlines will launch the first-ever nonstop flights between Vietnam and Denmark this December, marking a significant milestone in its European expansion. Beginning December 15, the carrier will operate three weekly flights between Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Copenhagen Airport using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The new 5,754-mile route will run year-round, offering a direct link that previously did not exist between the two countries.
According to Sabre Market Intelligence, all 74,800 passengers traveling between Vietnam and Denmark in 2024 relied on connecting flights via hubs like Doha, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Istanbul. The new route will streamline travel and reduce transit times for both leisure and business travelers.
The Copenhagen launch follows recent European network additions by Vietnam Airlines, including service to Munich in October 2024 and the upcoming launch of flights from Hanoi to Milan Malpensa on July 1. The airline also resumed flights to Moscow Sheremetyevo in May, after a three-year hiatus.
With the addition of Copenhagen, Vietnam Airlines will serve seven European destinations during the winter 2025-26 season: Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Milan, Moscow, Munich, and Paris.
As a SkyTeam member since 2010, Vietnam Airlines is expanding the alliance’s footprint in Northern Europe. Copenhagen Airport’s main airline, SAS, also joined SkyTeam recently, opening the door to potential collaboration.
The new route is expected to support growing trade and tourism ties between Vietnam and Denmark. In 2023, bilateral trade reached DKK10 billion ($1.5 billion), reflecting stronger economic relations.
