Silver Airways Suspends All Operations, Cancels Flights

Silver Airways has announced the immediate cessation of all operations as of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in December 2024.

In a statement, the Florida-based airline confirmed that all upcoming flights have been canceled and advised passengers not to go to the airport.

Founded in 2011, Silver Airways was based in Hollywood, Florida, with a hub in Tampa. The airline served destinations such as Tampa, Orlando, Pensacola, Fort Lauderdale, Key West, as well as various Caribbean and Bahamian airports.

Although Silver Airways initially pledged to maintain operations after its bankruptcy filing, several flights had already been abruptly canceled since early March 2025. The airline had been attempting to restructure under bankruptcy protection, but after entering into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, the buyer decided not to continue Silver’s flight operations in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

Silver Airways posted a statement on its website early Wednesday, saying, “We regret to inform you that we are ceasing operations as of today, June 11, 2025. Please do not go to the airport. All credit card purchases should be refundable through your credit card company or your travel agency.”

The airline’s closure marks the end of over a decade of operations for Silver Airways, leaving many passengers stranded and raising questions about the future of regional air service in its operating markets.

At the time operations ceased, Silver Airways operated a fleet of eight aircraft: three ATR42-600s and five ATR72-600s, leased from Azorra and Jetstream Aviation Capital. One ATR72-600 was subleased through Sterling Airways under a previous Chapter 11 agreement. The airline maintained bases at Fort Lauderdale, Orlando International, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, and Tampa International, serving 16 destinations across the Caribbean, including the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Sint Maarten.
