HX Expeditions recently achieved a significant milestone with its first-ever turnaround operation in Nuuk, Greenland, marked by the arrival of its expedition vessel, MS Fridtjof Nansen. The landmark event highlights the company’s expanding footprint in Arctic cruise destinations and strengthens Nuuk’s position as a growing hub for expedition travel.

To celebrate the inaugural turnaround, HX hosted a cultural ceremony at KATUAQ, Nuuk’s cultural center. The celebration featured notable guests, including Qupanuk Olsen, known for “Q’s Greenland,” and Greenlandic fashion designer Nickie Isaksen, showcasing local culture and creative talent.

Over a 24-hour period, more than 500 HX guests traveled with Air Greenland between Nuuk, Copenhagen, and Reykjavík, setting a new passenger record for both Air Greenland and Nuuk International Airport. This achievement marks the highest single-day guest volume handled by the airline and airport from a single cruise partner.

HX Expeditions’ collaboration with Air Greenland is a key component of its growing Arctic operations. The airline provides direct connections for expedition guests to the newly opened Nuuk Airport, enhancing accessibility to Greenland’s remote destinations. The successful turnaround underscores HX Expeditions’ commitment to expanding sustainable and immersive travel experiences in the Arctic while boosting local economies and infrastructure.

The Nuuk milestone sets the stage for HX’s future growth as it continues to develop new Arctic itineraries, offering travelers unique opportunities to explore Greenland’s dramatic landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
