Iberia has unveiled its new growth strategy, “Flight Plan 2030,” targeting €6 billion ($6.9 billion) in investment and aiming for annual profitability of 13.5% to 15%. Announced on June 18, 2025, at the Paris Air Show, the plan sets out a roadmap to expand the airline’s fleet, route network, and infrastructure while strengthening Madrid Barajas Airport as a key European hub.

Under the plan, Iberia will grow its long-haul fleet from 47 to approximately 70 aircraft, adding more Airbus A350s, A321XLRs, and potentially A330neos from a wider IAG group order. The airline also intends to renew its short- and medium-haul fleet with fuel-efficient A320neo and A321neo aircraft, supporting its target of net-zero emissions by 2050.

New long-haul destinations will include Toronto, Philadelphia, Monterrey, and Brazilian cities Recife and Fortaleza, joining Orlando as recent network additions. The carrier will also increase frequencies to key markets and continue exploring further transatlantic opportunities.

Passenger experience is central to the plan, with Iberia set to upgrade long-haul cabins, introduce enhanced connectivity, and increase overhead luggage capacity on narrow-body jets. A new Premium Lounge at Madrid-Barajas is also under development.

A major infrastructure project, ‘Ciudad Iberia’ in La Muñoza, will house the airline’s new tech-focused headquarters. Iberia expects to hire 1,000 new employees annually to support its expansion.

According to PwC, Iberia’s annual GDP contribution is projected to grow to €19 billion by 2033, supporting 250,000 jobs—a 42% increase from current figures, reinforcing its critical role in Spain’s economic future.
