Philippine Airlines (PAL) has given aviation enthusiasts a first look at its upcoming flagship aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, during a preview at the Airbus Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse, France. This marks the first of nine A350-1000s ordered by the airline, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2028.

Set to be delivered in Q4 2025, the aircraft will feature a spacious three-class layout with 382 seats and will serve key transpacific long-haul routes. The A350-1000 is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and offers a range of up to 16,100 kilometers (8,700 miles), making it ideal for PAL’s ultra-long-haul operations with lower fuel burn and emissions.

“This is a fleet game-changer that will increase capacity and elevate our long-haul passenger experience,” said PAL President Richard Nuttall. “It underlines our ongoing commitment to sustainability and premium service.”

The aircraft is currently in the structural assembly phase, with major fuselage and wing sections being integrated to allow installation of electrical, water, and air systems. Once assembled, it will undergo final system fittings and cabin integration.

“We chose the A350-1000 for its efficiency and flexibility, aligning with our vision of regional and international growth,” added Carlos Luis Fernandez, PAL’s COO.

In addition to the A350s, PAL is also expecting 13 A321neo aircraft starting in 2026, as part of a wider fleet modernization effort. The airline currently operates 79 aircraft and is positioning itself for expansion across Asia-Pacific and North America.
