Chatlyn Raises €8M to Revolutionize Hotel Messaging

AI-powered hotel communication platform Chatlyn has secured €8 million in Series A funding to expand its reach and develop new products aimed at transforming guest interactions in the hospitality sector. The Austria-based startup, launched in late 2022, received the investment from lead investor Smedvig Ventures, along with participation from transport group Blaguss and several business angels. An innovation grant from the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) also supported the funding round.

Chatlyn plans to use the capital to accelerate its geographic expansion, scale up hiring, and enhance its technology offerings, including the introduction of agentic AI for phone support and a conversational booking assistant. The company’s vision is to become the “AI brain for hotels,” streamlining communication across departments such as front desk, reservations, marketing, and guest services.

Hotels today often rely on eight to twelve separate platforms to manage guest communications, leading to inefficiencies for staff and poor response times for guests. Chatlyn aims to consolidate this fragmented process into a single, intelligent hub. “Every day, hotels are missing revenue because a guest inquiry comes in at a.m. and gets lost in the shuffle,” said Nicolas Vorsteher, Chatlyn’s co-founder and CEO. “We want to bring back meaningful conversations and free up staff’s valuable time for in-person guest interactions.”

The platform currently supports over 1,000 properties in 30 countries and integrates with major property management systems, including Apaleo, Mews, Oracle Opera, and Planet’s Protel. By centralizing communications and deploying AI tools that can understand and respond in multiple languages, Chatlyn helps hotels improve guest engagement and boost conversion rates.

Freddie Kalfayan, principal at Smedvig Ventures, said the hospitality industry is undergoing its most significant digital transformation since the advent of online bookings. He believes Chatlyn is positioned at the heart of this shift. “Their rapid adoption by premium hotel brands, industry-first AI capabilities, and exceptional founding team convinced us they’re building the platform that will define the future of guest communication,” he said.

With the travel industry increasingly focused on automation and personalization, Chatlyn’s unified messaging and AI support system is designed to help hotels respond faster, reduce staff workload, and ultimately drive more bookings. The company’s growth reflects a broader trend in hospitality toward adopting intelligent tools that enhance both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

As Chatlyn moves forward with its expansion strategy, the funding is expected to accelerate product development and integration with more hotel systems, solidifying its role as a key player in the evolving hospitality tech landscape.
